Who do you think you are?

The next time you feel like God can't use you, just remember...
  • Noah was a drunk
  • Abraham was too old
  • Isaac was a daydreamer
  • Jacob was a liar
  • Leah was ugly
  • Joseph was abused
  • Moses had a stuttering problem
  • Gideon was afraid
  • Samson was a womanizer
  • Rahab was a prostitute
  • Jeremiah and Timothy were too young
  • David had an affair and was a murderer
  • Elijah was suicidal
  • Isaiah preached naked
  • Jonah ran from God
  • Naomi was a widow
  • Job went bankrupt
  • Peter denied Christ
  • The Disciples fell asleep while praying
  • Martha worried about everything
  • The Samaritan woman was divorced, more than once
  • Zaccheus was too small
  • Paul was too religious
  • Timothy had an ulcer
  • ..AND Lazarus was dead!
So, what's your excuse? Tell us here.

"Besides you aren't the message, you are just the messenger"

Thanks for the reminder. It's not who we are, but who we are in Christ.

Like Jonah, I ran from the call. For the most part, I would have thought you insane to even suggest that I was to be involved in Ministry. It took a long time for my vision to be elevated to the level where I could see what God had to show me… but show me He did. Over time I’ve come to understand what it means to be the messenger. Our ways are not His and the battle is certainly not ours. To be used by God requires a willing heart and the submission of our will in order that His Will can be done through us. I pray that I am not the only one that reaches this place of truth. In a word, it’s called compassion, and we need to follow the lead of Christ to put it into effective practice.

Matthew 9:37-38 (NIV) Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

Great list. I'm a little bit of a lot of those folks.

I linked to this from "Soul Food" at my blog. Love this.

"What makes our labor holy, what makes it eternal, is not just the work but the state of our hearts while performing that work. When we comprehend that truth, then we realize washing dishes is as significant to the Kingdom as operating on a patient; driving a truck is as eternally triumphant as leading a company. Then, even in the zig-zags of our careers, when life seems more random than ordered, when it feels like we're running in thick mud with heavy boots, we can rest in the knowledge we're serving God as we labor faithfully and diligently."
