Group Writing Project: Taste and See, Reflections of 2008

This is an open invitation to everyone to reflect on this past year.

Listen to the news or read the papers, and it hasn’t been such a hot 12 months on a number of fronts. But we know that our God isn’t one constrained by the latest economic or political news. He’s not one to wait till consumer confidence picks up. He’s the same today, yesterday and forever.

So, in what ways has God blessed you this year? Perhaps this year has been one of loss for you: a home, a job, or a loved one. How have you found blessings in your brokenness?

Here’s how to participate:
If you have a blog, write a blog post, link to this post, and then send us an e-mail with your link.
If you don’t have a blog, send your text here.

We’ll post your reflections beginning January 1.

Okay, I hope I did this right. LOL. I followed your directions but it was hard to pick all the awesome and taught reflections of
'08, but I did my best. Sorry it was so long, maybe I should shorten it????

Take Care!!!

I'd like to participate.

'Tis good to think on these things, which now makes me think of those verses in Philippians -- the verses that say, "Whatsoever things are lovely ... and pure ... and just ... Think on these things." Hmmm, methinks a blog post is brewing.

Sorry it took me until '09 to finish this group writing project entry, but I have posted it on today's Thrive Christian blog. As I read it again for editing I would title it "Surprised by God's Unusual Mercy."

Happy New Year!!!

"What makes our labor holy, what makes it eternal, is not just the work but the state of our hearts while performing that work. When we comprehend that truth, then we realize washing dishes is as significant to the Kingdom as operating on a patient; driving a truck is as eternally triumphant as leading a company. Then, even in the zig-zags of our careers, when life seems more random than ordered, when it feels like we're running in thick mud with heavy boots, we can rest in the knowledge we're serving God as we labor faithfully and diligently."
